The place named Nathdwara near Udaipur city of Rajasthan has a different significance than being the main temple of Lord Shrinath Ji. Shrinath ji is considered to be the form of Lord Shri Krishna and the idol of Shrinath Ji in the temple is present in the child stage.
Shrinath Ji and Shri Krishna are the main characters in the Pichhwai painting because their darshans and their pastimes are depicted in the Pichhwai paintings.
The famous Pichhwai paintings all over the world is depicted under religious belief. This art is made using natural pigments on cotton cloth and also used gold and silver. The colors are created by the artists themselves.
Pichhwai painting is a very complex task, which takes many years to learn,it takes a lot of skill while learning, for example sketching, testing and preparing colors, preparing pure gold and silver solution, brush making, culture, dresses, makeup, gestures, texture of everything, terminology, knowledge of nature, weather, directions, architectural, proportion of everything, material knowledge of everything, designs, history information etc.Pichhwai painting is a very deep art as it is hardly as widespread as any other art.
The history of Pichhwai painting of about 250-300 years has been very golden and this art continued to flourish. If considered, Pichhwai painting is a very enjoyable painting mode. But due to the hard work and time it takes, the trend of new generation towards this art is ending.
The artists of Nathdwara have taken the painting to extremes. Artists here have waved their glory in the world and have got their iron made with their excellent work. Many of these accomplished artists later made the city of Udaipur their domain and settled here permanently. Originally, the Pichhwai painting is used to make decorations behind the idol of god in the festivals and festivities held in Shrinathji's temples.
Many devotees who do devotion to Shrinath Ji also build Shrinathji's temple in their homes, they also like to install Pichhwai paintings for decoration in their personal temples. This makes his family experience different religious joy.
Due to the increasing interest and demand of the people, Pichhwai paintings expanded and gradually their fame spread to the whole world.
Pichhwai means a painting related to the religious theme made on a cloth hanging behind the idol of the god.
Nowadays its form has changed, now it is also being made in the decorative form, which has nothing to do with religious sentiment, now people have started making Pichhwai paintings to decorate their houses.
Perhaps the history of Pichhwai painting may be even older than 250-300 years, the 100-150-year-old Pichhwai's still existing with many people.many people may have even older antiques.
I am amazed to see those old Pichhwai paintings, the hard work, the high level of work and the brightness of colors that are going on, Wow!! Unmatched!!
Every person wants to get the painting good and at a low price, but some people think that there is no price, just that the painting should be very good. Everyone has their own point of view.
The amount of time that goes into the making of Pichhwai painting makes us guess how hard this work is. It takes a few days to several months to make it.
I love it when the art lover praises my work, who will not like it when the hard work is successful, the greatest connoisseur is the one who gets the painting done and what better can it do than if the artwork is his favorite is.
Even though I have to work hard, I always use stone colors only because the stone colors have been used for paintings from the beginning and the brightness of these colors increases with the passage of time.
In the workshop,I work alone because many people work together in a painting, then it is called production, it cannot be called creation and production is in factories. Creation can only take place in an artist's workshop, which the artist can do by putting in full time and hard work.

There comes a special time in every person's life when he has to decide what role he will play next. He has to do a government job or private, engage in some service work or do his own work. There are thousands of tasks to be done, but in spite of so many work opportunities, a person sometimes falls into a big profession that what to do, which direction to go, it is not right to make any decision. But this did not happen to me at all, I had to come this way.,
Around 1980, when I was seventeen years old, I moved towards art and my hobby grew day by day, trying and working hard, today I have reached this point. Even today i am learning and want to know a lot more! more and more!! And this hunger to learn is never going to disappear, because I believe that no person is ever complete and there is so much to learn, so much more.
There is no limit to any field, there is no end to the field of art. As you progress further, further paths will open for learning. Many people say that I am made for art only and perhaps it is also right.
As you know Pichhwai painting is famous all over the world and there is no need to introduce it. Many people are eager to know about how it is made, what things are used to make it, how many days it takes, etc.
Many are also keen to make Pichhwai painting, so if you want to learn how to make it, then a workshop is organized for those who want to learn, whereby organizing a workshop of 5-12 days, the participants will get the complete method and everything used in it. I will explain it in detail. I have gone to many cities in the country for workshops and have made many people aware of this art.
During the workshop, I explain everything to everyone and also answer the questions asked by them.
Seeing all the artworks prepared by the participants at the conclusion the people rejoice. If all are made with hobbies, then artifacts also become good.
I preferred to work alone from the beginning. I have enjoyed working with many people, which makes me alone. while working, I do not know what is happening around, I like to keep the selected songs playing.
If there is a favorite atmosphere, then the mind remains happy and you also know that the work done with a happy mind will also be good. If the artwork is good, then how much the heart feels, cannot say in words. Everyone has their own different way of working, some prefer to work in groups and some alone.
I like to teach the work of Pichhwai painting in groups because at that time I have to explain, not to create. Teaching is a different process and creating is a different thing.
There is no feeling of any compulsion in working alone,as long as the desire is not done, then other work should be done, and to work with others one has to respect their wishes.
When I was in my early days at that time I did not even know what else would have to be learned in order to learn to make the traditional painting, because at that time everything that was used in it, the artist had to prepare himself, and where would I get the material related to it ?
I did not even know. Now many things are found ready,
In order to make brushes, the back of the pigeon's wing
was needed, in search of it, I used to roam and search where there was a possibility of getting pigeon feathers
and pick up the feathers which fell down there which was very difficult. Were, there was very little work in the raised wings.
The gold leaf had to be grinded by hand and prepare a fine solution, which I did not know, wasted several hundred gold leaves in an attempt to make it, but I was never disappointed . Failure would also happen, but after a short time, again after collecting the money, try again.
Boxboard paper is used to make the picture, this paper is a bit thick, the work on it is good. I had no idea of this paper where I would get it,then I would pick up the packing cans and make paintings on them and get ready to roam in the markets, roam with the bicycle and sometimes the bicycle was punctured.
So many such things used to happen, when I remember these past things, I laugh a lot at my past.
Pichhwai paintings requires a lot of hard work and time. And if the original artwork is to be made, it takes even more time.
